Armoured personnel carrier (APC)

Land

A protected 'battle taxi' that moves soldiers safely through dangerous areas. It usually carries only a machine gun for self-defence.
APCs can be wheeled (faster on roads, cheaper) or tracked (better off-road). Many armies also use mine-protected versions after experience with roadside bombs.

Well-known examples

M113 (USA) BTR-82 (Russia) Stryker (USA) Patria AMV (Finland) WZ-551 (China) Unicorn (Sri Lanka)
