Assault rifle

Infantry

The standard personal weapon of the modern soldier: a rifle that can fire single shots or bursts. The Kalashnikov (AK-47) family and its copies, such as the Chinese Type 56 long used in Sri Lanka, are the most produced firearms in history.
An army's real strength still starts with how well its individual soldiers are trained, equipped and led.
